Carlos was a graduate student working for the Structural Geology and Earth Resources Group until July of 2004, when he successfully completed his PhD program. While at Harvard, his interests focused on the development and construction of regional 3D structural models by using subsurface and subsurface data, velocity modeling, and fault-related folding techniques. In a join-effort with Dr. Peter Suess (U. of Tuebingen-Germany), Carlos integrated industry seismic reflection data with earthquake information to produce high-resolution 3D velocity models of the sedimentary basins in the Inner California Borderlands, and area adjacent to the LA Basin. With the supervision of Prof. Shaw, he used such models to develop three-dimensional geometric and kinematic representation of active blind-thrust structures that formed this complex oil province, and control the present seismicity of the area. Carlos is now continuing his professional development in the oil industry, were he focused in structural and kinematic analysis, 2D and 3D restoration techniques, and sedimentation/tectonics interaction Please click here to see further examples of my research. | ||||||
